We've had a few customers come to us after their Liquid Diamonds line started generating complaints — clogged carts, dry hits, diamond material sitting undissolved at the bottom of the tank. In almost every case, the cartridge worked fine for distillate. It just wasn't built for diamonds.
Liquid Diamonds is a different animal. THCA crystals suspended in a heavy terpene sauce don't move through a cartridge the way distillate or even live resin does. If you're sourcing a 510 cartridge for a Liquid Diamonds SKU, this is the one product where "it says compatible with thick oils" isn't good enough — you need a full ceramic vape cartridge that's actually been tested with diamonds in it, not just spec'd for thick oil in general.
Why It's Harder on Hardware
Two things stack on top of each other with Liquid Diamonds: the viscosity from the diamond content, and the terpene load from the sauce it's suspended in. Put those together and you get problems that don't show up with other thick oils:
- Oil moves too slowly into the absorption surface, so you get dry hits even with a full tank
- Airflow paths clog more easily, especially on cartridges designed with distillate in mind
- It takes more heat to fully vaporize, which means a cartridge with uneven heating will scorch the terpenes before the oil clears
- Diamond crystals can settle instead of dissolving evenly, so potency drifts from the first pull to the last
We've seen brands add a Liquid Diamonds product without re-testing their existing hardware, and it's usually the first thing that goes wrong.
What Actually Matters When You're Picking a Cartridge
Full ceramic vape cartridge, not partial. Liquid Diamonds needs more absorption surface than distillate does. A 510 cartridge that's ceramic-coated but not full ceramic tends to fall short here.
Wider airflow. Narrow airflow paths are the first thing to clog when there's undissolved crystal moving through the cartridge.
Even heat across the element. Uneven heating means part of the sauce vaporizes fine while another part scorches. With Liquid Diamonds' terpene content, that's more noticeable than with most oils.
A fill process that actually works at production volume. Plenty of cartridges perform fine once they're filled but are a pain to fill consistently with something this thick. Worth testing before you commit to a full run, not after.
Real testing with diamonds, not just "thick oil" marketing. This is the one that trips people up. A cartridge can handle live resin fine and still choke on Liquid Diamonds, because diamonds behave differently in suspension even at similar viscosity.

Before You Commit
Ask your supplier directly whether "compatible with thick oils" means tested with Liquid Diamonds, or just with distillate. Those aren't the same claim, even though they get marketed the same way.
Run a real test batch at production scale before you place a full order. Small-sample testing doesn't always catch clogging or fill-consistency problems that only show up at volume.
And check your fill process specifically — a cartridge that performs great once it's filled can still be a headache to fill consistently when the oil is this thick.
